The overtime strike has greatly delayed the inter-State shipping, and unless a settlement is effected, the congestion will become acute within the next fortnight. The Ulimaroa was scheduled to sail at three o’clock, but it had not completed then, so that she -was delayed for over two hours. Several tons of cargo for Auckland, unable to be loaded on the Ulimaroa bv five o’clock, had to be left behind. The seamen on a coastal vessel refused to supply steam in a case where the owners attempted to use volunteer; labour after the watersiders knocked off. „„ ’ MELBOURNE, November 26. A complete deadlock has arisen in the watersiders’ dispute. Owing to the no overtime strike, the laying up of vessels has commenced. Many seamen will be affected unless a settlement is soon reached. It is understood that pressure is being brought to bear on the watersiders by other unions, with the object of bringing about normal working conditions.
