GERMAN AFFAIRS

DISARMAMENT DISPUTE.

(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association)

BERLIN, October 21.

The German Government is indignant at a report that the Ambassadors’ Conference has decided Germany has not fulfilled her disarmament obligations, and that therefore it is not yet time for the League of Nations to take control of the interAllied Alission. The newspapers declare this allegation is outrageous. Th e “Tagliche Rundschau” under the caption ‘‘Fussiness, pinpricks, bagatelles,” said that it has official authority for denying the Ambassadors’ allegations. It is expected the Government will immediately protest, and will again demand the withdrawal of the Allied Alission.

AGREEAIENT WITH FRANCE. LONDON, October 21. _ The ‘‘Daily Herald’s” diplomatic correspondent understands that the Franco-German conversations at Thoiry resulted in a deadlock, ana that both Berlin and Paris have been told that if they count on financial co-operation from 'London, they must bring Sir xVusten Chamberlain into their conversations, instead of leaving him on the doormat. TREATIES WITH DOMINIONS. BERLIN, October 21. It is authoritatively stated that the Government expects, after the Imperial Conference, to conclude direct commercial treaties with th e British Dominions, especially with Ireland and South Africa. It is believed that the right of the Dominions to conclude treaties is acknowledged, but that it has not yet been decided whether they must be concluded with, the King as a Dominion signatory, which is a point that the Imperial Conference is expected to clear up.
