BANK ROBBER
SHOTS AT LIVERPOOL

LONDON, October 13. A man entered a bank at Liverpool, and held up the staff with a revolver, and when the cashier attempted to prevent him from taking silver fiom the counter,' he fired. The cashier was seriously wounded, and the thief then dashed into the street. He was pursued by the managar, who was calling, “Stop thief!” A crowd joined in the chase, anil the thief then fired point blank at two men, who were both wounded. A policeman who attempted to leli the thief with his baton was also wounded. Eventually the man was arrested. An examination showed that only a few-shillings had been stolen. 1 Two of the victims of the raider's shooting are in a critical condition. DARING AMERICAN RAID. NEW YORK, October 14. A message from Elizabeth (New Jersey) states that bandits to-day held up a mail truck in the heart of the business district, although it was under police escort, one of whom was killed.
The bandits escaped with a payroll of one hundred and sixty thousand dollars.
