WORLD EMPIRE. In the pages of history we read of the rise and fall of universal empires. The Babylonians ruled in magnificent splendour until they were vanquished by the cruel Medes and Persians. Then the illustrious Alexander led the conquering Greeks to world dominion, only to be overthrown by the ’’iron monarchy of Rome.” To-day that once mighty empire is broken into warring nations. Can the world continue this or will it be welded into one great empire? The answer is found in the Bible. This subject will be considered by Air R. 11. Powrie in his address to-morrow (Sunday) ,at 7 p.m. in the Foresters’ Hall, Albert Street. Mr Powrie speaks on the same subject in the Dobson Hall next Wednesday at 11 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Free literature on the subject may be obtained from R. H. Powrie, 77 Guinness Street, Greymouth.
