RIGHT OF WAY DISPUTE.

WESTPORT, June 18.

.In the Supreme Court this morning, His Honor, Mr Justice Adams, gave a decision in the case, O’Neil v. Ryan, a dispute over a right of way, in favour of the plaintiff, assessing the damages at £2 with costs on the lowest scale. The obstruction was ordered to be removed within fourteen days; otherwise an injunction would be issued. TECHNICAL SCHOOL. At the Technical School Management meeting last night, the Director reported that the Department advised closing certain evening classes owing to the lack of interest and the unsatisfactory attendance. All classes with aii attendance less than ten are being eliminated. The Board con-„ sidered the position regrettable and deplorable. It was decided to maka a strenuous appeal to parents anti children and various local organisa-tions-to support the classes with a view to their retention. HOCKEY MATCHES. At hockey yesterday, the ladies’ fixture, was a great gdme between Westport and the School, who were level in the championship. Westport won by three goals to two. In the Stevens’ Memorial Cup match (men), Wesley defeated United by four to one. GENERAL. A “Paddy’s Market’’ was held in the Primary . School yesterday to raise funds for sports equipment, it resulted in splendid returns, approximately fifty pounds. i The English literature classes unoer the Rev. Mr Millar, are making great progress. The lectures are becoming popular, and the attendances weekly increasing, the members showing much enthusiasm.

PROBATION GRANTED. Five young men, who pleaded guilty to breaking, entering and theft at Denniston, were admitted to probation for three years. Each was ordered to pay one-fifth of the costs of the proceedings, one-fifth of the value of the goods and one-fifth of the value of the money mis-appropriated, report once a week to the Probation Officer, give a true statement'of all earnings, and keep away from billiard rooms.

MINER INJURED. WESTPORT, June 19. .■ A man named Chomley, formerly a resident of Reefton, was injured by a fall of■ coal at the Cardiff Bridge mine, Seddonville yesterday. He was brought to town for medical attention, injuries to the back and facial a jia.sious, necessitating several stitches, but he is progressimr favourably. ° DRUIDS’ INSTALLATION.

The Buller Druids’ Installation "as held last night. The ceremony v-as impressively conducted by District President Newton, Denniston Lodge, Star of the West, He intimated a probable visit of several ofiicers next month. The following chief officers were installed: Arch' Ero. Campbell; Vice, Ashton; SecShanks; Treasurer, Hart; vnaidian, V oods. The evening concluded with a successful social.'
