SHOWMAN FINED.
WANGANUI, June 17.
Harry Cahill, familiarly known as “Queensland Harry,” a well-known showman, was charged at the Court to-day with ill-treating a horse at Dannevirke on February 10.
It was alleged that during buckjumping exhibitions, defendant tortured a horse. Defendant was fineo £5, with, costs £l2 6s 6d.
FIREMEN’S DEATH. AUCKLAND, June 18. An Arab fireman died during the voyage of the Willesden from Panama to Auckland. He was found in the bunkers with a fractured skull. The ship obtained directions for proper medical treatment' by radio from the steamers Rua bine and Port Pirie. The injured man made good progress for ten days, but then he became worseand died about two weeks out from Auckland. He was buried at sea.
