EARL’S MARRIAGE
— A FALSE DECLARATION. (“Sydney Sun” Service.) LONDON, June 17. ' In connection witli the marriage of the young Earl De Clifford, which took place on Alarch 15, the Earl was charged with making a false declaration for the purpose ot obtaining a marriage license, in which he gave his age as 22 years, instead of 19 years, and in which he stated that his name was Edward Russell, and his father’s name Jack Russell. He stated he was an engineer earning his own living. The Earl gave evidence that if he had given correct particulars, he would have required his mother’s consent to the which would not have been given. Counsel appealed to the Bench to take a romantic view of the case. De Clifford fell in love with a charming • girl, and he acted openly. The Court held that the action was inexbusable, and fined him £5O, with £lO 10s costs.
