The competitions unde? the auspices of the United Fire Brigades’ Association were continued on the Exhibition Sports Ground to-day under favourable conditions. Results: — Gilbert Memorial, one man coupling event. — Whangarei, 64 2-ssec, 1; Christchurch City, 65sec (inc. 2sec pen.), 2; Hillside Railway, 65sec, 3. Coupling Event, for two men.—Te Kuiti, 46 2-ssec, 1; Gore, 46 2-ssec, 2; Taihape, 48 2-ssec (inc. Isec. pen.), 3. Rescue Event, for two men. —Te Kuiti, 25 l-ssec, 1 ■ Hawera, 28 2-5 sec, 2; Hillside Railway, 29sec, 3. The. Shield points gained by the leading brigades at the conclusion of yesterday’s competitions 'are as follow : — Championship Shield (all events except the motor events). —Hawera 27 points; Te Kuiti 18; Hillside Railway ; Dannevirke 9 ; Taihape 9 ; Gore 8; Thames 7; Te Aroha 6; Whangarei 6; Greenlane 4^; Oainaru 3 ; Christchurch City 3 ; Onehunga 3 ; Stratford 2; Hastings 2. Pressure Shield (all events except motor). —Hawera 12 points ; Dannevirke 9 ; Thames 7 ; Greenlane 5 ; Te Aroha 4; Taihape 3. TO-DAY’S RESULTS. DUNEDIN, 'March 5. The firemen’s demonstrations were continued? this morning. Four. Men, Hose and Reel: Hawera 45secs 1, Taumarunui 45 2-ssecs 2, Thames 47secs 3, Te Kuiti 48secs 4, Hastings 48 l-ssecs 5, Sumner 48 1-5 secs 6, Hillside 49 3-ssecs 7. Hastings and Sumner decided* to divide fifth and sixth prize money- Hastings tossed for and won the odd half point for the championship shield. Following are the progress points for the shield to noon Championslidp Shield:■ Hawera 43, Te Kuiti 24£, Thames 16£, Hillside 22g, Taumarunui 12g, Dannevirke 9. High Pressure Shield: Hawera 29, Thames 161, Taumarunui Dannevirke 9 Te Kuiti 62, Green Lane 5.
