MR SEDDON, M.P.

VISIT TO WELLINGTON. X Mr Seddon, M.P., returned on Thursday from .Wellington. During his short stay in Wellington, Mr Seidon attended to several matters in connection with the Westland Electorate, particularly stressing the importance of authorising the expenditure of votes for road construction. It would appear, said Mr Seddon, that Westland will have several Ministers visiting this district shortly. The Hon. A. Young expressed a wish as soon as he has taken over the administration of tli’e Health Department to visit the Coast and go into hospital matters with the local boards. The Minister of Lands (Hon. A. ]). McLeod, has several matters he wishes to attend to on the Coast, and will probably vtisit' the district at the end of Febrliary. The Prime Minister’s visit is indefinite, as he states he has an enormous quantity of work to overtake. He will visit the Coast before the session, which is to be opened at the usual time, in June. Mr Seddon stated he was pleased to notice that the Hon. A. DownieStewart appeared to have benefited slightly by the treatment he received in America. He, however, was not doing much travelling, as he had still to continue his treatment. Mr Seddon is attending the picnic being held at' Cass Square, Hokitika, to-day, under the auspices of the Grey Waterside Workers. TEREMAKAU TELEPHONES. Mr Seddon has received the following from the Postmaster-General: — “In reference to your letter’ of the 21st ult., to the Prime Minister, stating tha« a representative of the settlers at Teremakau. had approached you with a view to hastening the restoration of telephonic communication with that district, I beg to inform you that the prolonged interruption has the result of poles in the river being washed out by the recent heavy floods. Several attempts have been made to restore communication, but on account of the state of the river it has not so far been possible to do anything in the matter. The position, however, is being watched, and at the earliest possible moment the line will be restored.”
