REEFTON NOTES

REEFTON, Jan. 29.

On Thursday evening Miss K. AVills and Mr. Jas. AVills were entertained by the members of Knox Church congregation and pupils of the Sunday School previous to 'their departure from Reefton, the former for the Teachers’ Training College, Christchurch, the latter for AVesport Technical School. The evening was commenced with a programme of vocal and instrumental musical items and recitations to which Mesdames Dick, McElwee, AVallace and Mr. R. AVallace rendered a quartette. Solos were contributed by Mesdames Burnett, H. Campbell, AV. Day and Dick, Messrs AV. B. Auld, Campbell and Miss Patterson. Duets by Mesdames Dick and Rouse and Burnett and Rouse and Mrs. W. B. and Mr. W. B. Auld. Recitations by Rev. J. AVatt (2), Masters Ken Patterson and D. McCormack. Mr AV. B. Auld led the gathering in a community sing in two items. Rev. J. AVatt on behalf of the gathering, presented Miss AVills with an attache case and some lovely handkerchiefs ” and Master J. AVills with a brief bag and a Fyne Point pencil and wished them both success in their studies and future life. Mr. AV. B. Auld responded on behalf of Miss Wills. Mr. Jas. Wills thanked the donors for their useful and handsome presents. A dainty supper was served. The singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem concluded the meeting.
