REICHSTAG’S VOTE
CONFIDENCE IN NEW .GOVT.
CHANCELLOR IN RAGE.

BERLIN, January 28.
The Reichstag, by 160 votes to 149 votes adopted a’ vote of confidence in the Government. Eleven members abstained from voting possible only by a number of the Nationalists leaving .the Chamber. The decision preceded a heated debate in which the Nationalist, Hennig, attacked the Locarno Pact. He declared that the present Cabinet consisted of traitors who were the hangmen of the German people.. When Hennig left the tribune, Chancellor Luther, shaking with rage, went out to intercept him with raised fists. Luther shouted. “I forbid you to utter such slanders.” Members surged forward as an exchange of. blows seemed ifriminent. After prolonged uproar, the President at the House’s request excluded Hennig for the remainder of the sitting.
COLOGNE EVACUATION
PARIS, January 28.
The Conference of Ambassadors notified the German Ambassador that the Allied evacuation of Cologne zone will be completed at midnight on January 31. Sir Austen Chamberlain, and M. Briand, met at the Quai d’Orsay. They discussed the whole range of subjects of Anglo-French interest, except that of the debts, but no decisions were taken. .
Subsequently M. Briand, when interviewed, said that no obstacles} were encountered. Everything could easily be settled. The problem of th'e Allied troops in the Rhineland would he. settled in the spirit of the Locarno Pact later.
