(Our Own Correspondent.) ROSS, January 28. A swimming competition was helc at the Public Baths. There was' a verj good attendance, and the various events were keenly contested. Mr. W Blacklow lion, secretary of the Club was in charge of the programme. The starters were Mr. A. W. Peebles and Mr. W. B. Clarke. The Mayor, Mr. S. Evans, acted as judge for the swimming, while Messrs H. Chapman A. W. K. May acted in a similar capacity for the diving. The following were the results: — Boya’ Novice, 25yds.—G. Mason 1, M. Fellows 1, C. Smith 2. During the evening an entertaining exhibition of fancy diving was given by Mr. C. Marshall. An enjoyable dance concluded the proceedings. A carnival is to be held in about a month’s time, at which it is hoped that there will be many competitors from different Coast districts. It will be remembered that a very successful carnival was held here on similar lines twelve months ago. Extensive additions and improvements in the swimming pool are contemplated.
