New Zealand is doing its full share towards relieving Britain’s surplus population troubles, according to ad'vice Received from the High Com-, missioner’s office, London. The communication states that approvals for migrants from the United Kingdom to New Zealand were averaging 10D0 per month, whereas at the same period last year the average was 800 per month. So far as shipping arrangements are concerned, berthing reservations up until the end of February total 4250. Owing to the shipping dislocation resulting from the maritime strike, these berthing reservations will fall short of requirements by about 1000. That means that had there been no congestion, arrangements would have been made lor those additional 1000 migrants to: come to the Dominion. But for the strike, the year, as far as migratory movement is concerned, would have been a record.
