The Ashburton County Racing Club’s Winter Meeting opened to-day in the presence of a. large attendance. lowing are the results i— First Hurdle Handicap of 150 sovs. ; 1$ -miles.—En Route 1, Tenterfield 2, Paddy’s Hope 3. Also started—Nautical and North Inch. Won by two lengths, with a. similar distance between second and third. Time 2.53. -Novice Plate of 115 sovs. ; 6 furlongs —Chickwheat 1, Solway 2, _ Volant 3. Also started —Solfello, Bcbeform, Guy, Bonnie AVaif, Gay Bird, Jarretlere, Wharncliffe and Fairy Tidings. Won by a length, with three lengths between second and fliird. Time 1.16 4-5-Hack Steeplechase of 150 sovs. ; 2 miles. —Windermere 1, Swindasa 2, Blue Streak 3. Also started —Lord Ashlea, Red Sol, Cashman, Apex and klainspring.. .Won by three lengths, with five lengths between second and third. Time 4.13, Lord Ashlea, Red Sol and Apex fell, and Mainspring lost his rider.

Selma Trot (harness) of 135 sovs. ; 3.45 class.; 1£ miles.—Cardinal Logan (scr.) 1, Honour Bright 2, Four Bells 3. Also staided—Grey Cloud, Gift of Song. -Airman, Noble Dillon, Little Kmght, Our Bird, Kelburn, Tommy Bells, Rufine, Rex Minto, Dillon Gold and Succession. Won by a length and a half, with a. length between second and third. Time 3.35 2-5.

Ashburton County Handicap, 1 mile. —The Cheat 1, Jubilant 2, Kilbiroie 3. Also started—Los Ambus and Ferino. Won by a length. t Time. 1.44.
