Barclay beat Temple 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. In tlie women’s singles first round, Miss AlcKane beat Miss Sterry. In the second round Alias Boyd beat Aliss Hardie. Aliss Akhurst beat Mrs. "Weston. LONDON, June &• At Wimbledon, in the ladies’ singles, first round, Airs Bridge defeated Airs Melody 6/3, 6/0. Airs Alelody won the first two games, then Airs Bridge developed a strong game scoring many aces and from overhead smashes, LATER. The prospects for play .at Wimbledon appear remote. Intermittent rain this onoining set in persistently this afternoon. The centre court has been covered.
