CORRESPONDENCE

X <£> -■ - — >■ RECREATION GROUNQ (to the Editor.) . Sir,—The above, is supposed to be held in trust by the Borough Council as it pidygrouhd for residents of this borough; add it is a violation of their trustee-ship gividg any section a monopoly of same, and a score of resolutions would not rectify such action. All clubs, schools' etc., are quite within their rights in having a fair proportional use of the area and play their home matches thereon; but outside clubs are not entitled to use it to the exclusion of any team or member, of this community—championship meetings and tournaments excepted. Full control of the ground must be retained,by the Council, who may bo guided by the recommendations of a. sub-committee; . but that appears the lipiit they niay go, without creating a serious breach of their stewardship. RAILWAY COMPLAINT

■ (To 'the Editor.) Sir, —I note from your paper that the Minister df Railways, who is now Premier, stated that he is doing all he can to bring our railways more up to date to enable passengers to travel with greater comfort etc. 1 am sure this cannot be stated on the Reefton-Grey mouth train on Saturday, one of tha coldest days this winter. Thirty passengers were in one carriage with two lootwarmers—surely someone is to blame, for such neglect—however, -now that attention has been -called to the discomfort of travellers, I hope more consideration will be shown to those who have to travel to and from Reefton, a distance of fifty miles in three hours—so much for our up-to-date railways. -—Yours etc.; ■ JI. MURRAY.
