WHAREKURI TRAGEDY
POST MtlllTEM DISCOVERIES. The result of the post mortem examination of the body ol\Philip Hudson, made by Dr. AVatt at Kurow (reports the “Otago Daily 'Jimes’s” correspondent), revealed a bullet in the base of the skull. It would appear, therefore, that the young man, after failing in a first attempt to shoot himself beside the body of Olive Ruth erferd, pToceeded to the river and discharged a bullet into his head while in the water. Prior to leaving Dunedin Hudson drew a sum of £5O from the bank- Of this amount £35 in mites was found in the pockets of his c'othes. The remainder had probably been spent before he left the city. '! Im l" o men who found the body, .Messrs Ken M'Leod and Ross, were employed by the parents of the young man to search the river, and had a boat for that, purpose. The body of the deceased was taken through to Dunedin.
