MEETINGS, Etc.

• TRINITY’ MEN’S CLUB. The report to be presented at the annual meeting of Trinity Young Men’s Club this is as follows: —“During the past year the position of the Club has been satisfactory. The membership has increased, and the Elocutionary Competitions have served to develop the talent existing atnong the juniqr members, who again won the Championship, andrthe McLean Cup at the last Festival. The position of the seniors is also satisfactory, considering their numerical strength. The Club, has in’the past, suffered through lack of seniors for competition teams. This year it is hoped to put a full - team in the field. The other activities of the Club are in a good condition. The members find considerable recreation in billiards and chess. It is hoped more will take up chess this winter. If sufficient numbers are forthcoming, a local chess enthusiast has offered to give members tuition. Since last annual meeting, the Chib has lost the valued services of Mr. Allan Gandell, a talented debater and impromptu speaker, who has been transferred to Christchurch, and to whom"the Club extends best wishes for his future career. During the jyear some “tramps” were made, notably one to Mt. Davey, which proved an interesting and instructive trip and was enjoyed by all participating. It is recoriimended to the incoming committee, that tramps such as that to Mt. Davey be encouraged.”
