The death took place at Christchurch on Thursday of Mr Andrew Stevenson, formerly a well-known resident of Hokitika. Deceased, who was 63 years <jf age, was born at Barhead, Scotland, in 1862, and was brought to New Zealand by his, parents a year later, landing at Port Chalmers in the ship Victory. ,On the opening up of the West Coast Goldfields his parents came to Hokitika. For five years he was Dy Cullen and Co., and then began his connection with Messrs t ,J. .Chesney and Co., .merchants, and, he joined the-firm in 1896.
