J i Some very heavy showers have fallen 3 and as yet tlieie is.no sign of the rain 1 abating. ’ •' 1 s The annual meeting of householders i 1 was held on Monday evening for'the f ■ purpose of electing the school commit--1 tee for the ensuing year. Mr Calwell ( f Chairman, presided over an attendance 2 .. of eighteen. In the election it was . found necessary to call for the casting vote of ijie Chairman, and the follow. B ing committee was, elected: —Messrs 1 B Allott, Young, Brown, Abrahams and I. Rothwell. The report and balance < sheet were then read' and explained ; ' by the Chairman. From a consiaeraole '/I debit, balance, the old committee had- ( a raised, funds, spent considerable sums ; * on school material and equipment, and ; f left.-tile .incoming committee in- a fi-. , 1 nancial position. On the motion of Mfr . 1 Block, seconded by Mr Langford, a ‘ '■ hearty. Vote of thanks to the out-going ' s committee was passed, for the splendid ’ I WQi'k. they -had done during the year. r Mr Langford said that few school com- 1 o mittees-' in New Zealand could show such an excellent record. Mr Calwell replied on-behalf of the retiring com-,' 1 mittee, saying that they had only done h their best.
