(Our Own Correspondent). ’ REEFTON, April 28. Miss Doris Hawken is on. a visit to Reefton. , The members of the Nelson Education, Board, comprising Messrs Scantlebury, Baigent and Hill together I with, Messrs Thornton, secretary; Leaper, Architect; proceeded to Waiuta yesterday to view the new school site and returned to Reefton last evening. They visited the District High School this morning and proceeded to Wesjfport where. the usual meeting of members will be held. Before returning to Nelson the members of the Board propose to visit and inspect various schools, in the Westport district. / ■ Mr. Leslie Simpson accompanied by Mrs. Simpson and family are on a visit to Reeftbn and are staying with Mrs. Simpson’s relatives at Waitahu. Dr« and Mrs. Lewis Wicken left Reefton' this morning for Auckland where Dr. Wicken has been appointed to the staff of the Auckland Mental The .members of the Reefton Ladies’ Hockey Club entertained Misses Taafe, Hawken and Mr. H. L. Ching at Coler’s Tea Rooms last evening. The president/ Mr. E. Nicholson, occupied the chair and i presented Miss Hawken with a gold ( armlet, Miss Taafe with an ebony < backed hair brush and comb and Mr. i H. L. Ching with a solid' leather suit « case. In making the presentations Mr. Nicholson regretted the departure * from the district of two prominent. I members of the Club.
