- BLAKETOWN RATEPAYERS. At a late hour on Alonday evening, the Blaketown Ratepayers’. Association held their annual meeting. When the “Star’’ reporter left at eightthirty to seek fresh fields of investigation, only the Secretary and two other gentlemen had put in an appearance. However, some others came along later and a quorum was formed. The balance sheet, which was read by the secretary, showed a credit balance, and the annual report ..recorded a satisfactory years operations.- Both were adopted by the meeting. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year.—President, Mr F. E. Stent; secretary, Air. T. Sinnott, treasurer, Air A. Steel; Committee, Aless/s E. Clough, Addison, Ellery, .1. Smith, T. Collins, and J. AlqGirr. Alatters in connection with the improvement of the district were discussed, particularly in regard to the Blaketown Lagoon. Now that the engineers’ report in connection witn the Harbour improvements has come to hand, it was resolved to renew the Association’s request to the Harbour Board to reclaim the lagoon by depositing the dredge discharge there, it being the Association’s intention to provide a recreation ground on the spot. . Congratulatory remarks were made by several members regarding the new Citizens’ Hall, which is a distinct asset to the district.
