PREMIER’S SHARES

£30,600 IN BISCUIT CONCERN.

“CAPITAL IS fOT MINE.”

(Australian and N,Z. Cable Association.)

LONDON, September 11.

The newspapers give prominence to Air Ramsay MacDonald’s acquisition last March of £30,000 worth of shares in the biscuit firm of McVitie and Price. The controlling partner in the firm is Alexander Grant, who is a lifelong friend and admirer of the Premier and who received a baronetcy in June.

Mr R. MacDonald, questioned at Lassieouth, concerning his McVitie and Price shares, said: “The capital is not mine. I only technically own the shares. The matter has nothing to do with politics. Sir G. Grant received his baronetcy for public services, 'including his gift to the National Library of. Scotland.” The “Morning‘Post” points out that the shares are on public record at Edinburgh, no 'attempt at concealment being made.”
