RUGBY FOOTBALL
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE Mr. G. E. Perkins presided at the weekly meeting of the executive of the West Coast” Rugby Union last evening and there were also present Messrs Owens, C. A. Mathieson, N. Guy and N. W. Jones (secretary). A vote of thanks was, passed to Mr. A. Adkms, for acting as referee for the junior match last Saturday. A letter was received from the Barrytown Football Club, asking the Union to send a junior team to Barrytown, and it was decided to hold the matter over until the next meeting night, pending enquiries as to the cost of cars. A request from the Ross Football Club was received for a match next Saturday, with a junior team, and it was resolved, providing the Blaketown Club were willing, to match them with a Blaketown team. Owing to the bad state of the A. ground it was resolved to shift the posts over for next Saturday’s matches. The Schools’ Football Committee’s idea of sending a rep. schools’ team to Canterbury at the same time as the Grey State School team was going over, to play Somerville School, was approved. The following fixtures were arranged for next Saturday:— Seniors. —Star A. v. Kumara, at Kumara, at 3 p.m. Mr. Steel referee; and United B. v. Cobden at Park, at 3 p.m. Mr. L. Chapman referee. Juniors. —Ross v. Blaketown, at Park. Mr. W. Williams referee. Fourth Grade.—Star v. United, at Park at L3O, p.m. A ground, Mr. J. Guerin referee. Newman Shield/Match. —Inangahua v. Grey Technical School, at 1.30 p.m. A. ground, Park. Mr. T. Mclntosh, referee.
