MONTHLY MEETING HELD, i

Those present at to-day’s meeting of the: Grey County Council comprised Mr P. Donnellan (Chairman), Crs A. Blair, J. W. Hannan, J. Greaney, H. G. Carter, J. Byall, A. Robinson, and D. Baybutt. Consideration of two applications fori the position as permanent roadman on the Haupiri section was held over pending enquiries, by the En-

gineer. Advices of Government payments were received:—Baker’s Creek Bridge £324 4s 4d; Bell Hill-Haupiri £44; Roa-Braeton Track £75 16s; . Grey Valley Teramakau £146 2s 6d; Grey Valley Tamakau (Inchbonnie end), £74 ss; Ahaura Bride 57 16s; To Kinga Track £46; Sale of material £4 4s 7d ; Goldfields Revenue (May) £286 5s 2d. Authority was. received for the expenditure of £4OO for the Red Jacks’ Creek Bridge, and £5OO for the Lake Brunner-Inchbonnie Road.

A request for the removal of a bank outside the Omoto School was received from Mr J. B. Kent, secretary of the Omoto Ratepayers’ Association. dr Hannan said that about 12 months ago he was out at the spot complained of, and the Engineer stated that he would use some of the material on the bank for road work. The Omoto School Committee had done a good deal of the work itself, and was worthy of assistance. He moved, that attention be given to the matter. The motion was carried.

An application for a slaughterhouse license made by Mr G, Blair Paijara, was granted. A request was received from the Minister of Mines asking what proportion the County would be prepared to find for the completion of the RoaBraeton track.

The action of the County Clerk /Mr M. Keating) in writing to the Minister informing him that it could not see its way to make any allowance, was approved. Permission to cross the Grey-Val-ley Taramakau Road at Par.oa with a tram line, asked bv Mr W. J. Joyce, on behalf of Messrs Power and McAlpine, was granted. Sanction for the payment of £l7 15s 7d. balance of amount originally charged on account of the banquet tendered to the Governor-General on flie occasion of Ills visit ill 192.1, w«is requested bv the Greymouth Boronrh Council. The matter was referred to the Finance Committee.
