CHASE THROUGH STREETS. (Reuter.) LONDON, May 7. West End crowds to-day were astonished by the thrilling pursuit of motor bandits. Two men dismounted from a motorcar in New Bond Street at ten o’clock in the morning, smashed the window of Harhana’s jeweller’s shop with a hammer,, snatched a diamond necklace, valued at £B,OOO, re-entered the car and drove towards Piccadily. A policeman was a witness of the audacious theft, and jumping into a taxi he pursued the thieves, other police and pedestrians joining in the chase. The robbers abandoned the car during a traffic block, and escaped to a tube, station.
