CANTON CUSTOMS
FOREIGN MARINES LANDED. HONGKONG, December 6. It is reported that a. force of marines vjith machine guns, from foreign gunboats at Canton have landed and taken possession of the Customs House. There are seven foreign gunboats' anchored off Shameen, four being British under Admiral Sir Arthur Leveson. Two are. Japanese and one is French. Admiral Frochat is aboard the latter. PEKIN, December 6. American naval vessels havq joined those at Japan, Italy, Britain and France in the concentration at. Canton to prevent Dr. Sun Yat Sen’s threatened seizure of the Customs House, the foreign control of which he has long resented. Meanwhile, British marines have reinforced the French landing party, which has fortified the building, while other foreign gunboats are standing by to support the disembarkation.
