Mr T. H. Lee, of Reefton, left for Christchurch yesterday morning. Mrs P. O’Brien, who has been seriously ill, is reported to be improving. Rev. Father D. Healy of Christchurch is visiting Aha.ura being the guest of Rev. Father 1* ogarty. The Hon. Sir Maui Pomare, Minister for Health, returned to-day from his official visit to the Cook Islands. Mr R- A. Horne, manager Bristol Piano Coy., arrived from Christchurch last evening. The Auckland Presbytery has decided to nominate the Rev. George Miller, of Ashburton, as Moderator of the General Assembly. Dunedin City Council has appointed as City Engineer, Mr J. C. Alexander. He has been acting as Engineer to Gisborne Borough Council.

Mr and Mrs T. Nelson and family, who have resided at Runanga for the past 19 years, will leave on Tuesday next for Christchurch, their future home.

Mr Gavin Wilson, locomotive engineer, N.Z. Railways, arrived yesterday afternoon from Wellington to relieve Mr Robinson, who has been acting engineer for the West Coast Section of Railways. Mr Robinson was called to Christchurch owing to the illness of his wife.

Mr W- R- Oates, of Wanganui, who was seriously injured on the night his wife was murdered, has practically recovered from his injuries and was able to leave the district hospital. Ho is staying with friends in Wanganui Eastf. /

Advice was received yesterday of the sudden death of Elizabeth Turnbull, •which took place at the residence of Miss Main, Kanien. . Deceased was a school teacher for many years in Greymouth and Ahaura State Schools. Her late father was Inspector for the Public Works Department. She Had been superannuated fot seven years owing to being attacked with rheumatism.
