TECHNICAL FETE
MISS A. HIGSON AS QUEEN.
The Technical School Fete yesterday was a unique success, proving a wonderland to the children and highly entertaining to the many adults' present. From the commencement at 2.30 to the finish at 10 o’clock the Fete was a scene of gaiety, reflecting the greatest credit on those who had worked so untiringly, for success. The stalls sold practically all their ■wares of needlework, confectionery, flowers, general produce, etc. The Tea Rooms both in the large marquee and in the class room were well patronised, whilst the shooting gallery, cocoanut shies, dart board, post office, lighting the candle and naildriving competitions did a great trade. The Municipal Band in the evening gave an open air concert and this brightened proceedings considerably. Mr. Mitchell, of the engineering department gave a series of lectures on electricity, demonstrating with various interesting electrical apparatus. Mr. Ferris, in the large laboratory, carried out scientific experiments, which were highly interesting especially the lighting effects. The gipsy tent, where one was told one’s destiny by some mysterious being per medium of cards, evolved much amusement.
