SYDNEY, July 25. . z The Secretary of the Miners’ Feder- ■ at ion states that althought the miners ? have accepted the terms of settlement, ■ it may be necessary for Mr. Oakes > again to intervene owing to the atti- ; tude of a prominent northern proprie- ■ tor. i SYDNEY, July 26. i The coal hitch is said to have arisen • through John Brown insisting on the introduction of the Sullivan Turbine air machine at the Pelawmain Colliery. The miners contend that such is in conflict with the agreement which provides for a resumption on the same conditions which were operating when the stoppage occurred. The owners’ representative explained that the new machine was working prior to the stoppage, but no 1 award has yet been made respecting it. The dispute, unless speedily adjusted may jeopardise the agreement. • MELBOURNE, July 26. In consequence of the disturbed state of the coal industry in New South Wales, the coal consumers of Victoria and South Australia are placing orders in South Africa and England.
