ADDINGTON MARKET. (Special to “Star.”) CHRISTCHURCH, July 25. The National Mortgage anil Agency Co., Ltd., report on to-day’s Addington, sale — Fat Cattle: A large entry in this section, with quality better than usual. The market opened well and continued so throughout. Values were better to the extent of from 10/- to 15/per head. Prime beef averaged from 28 6 to 316, medium 26/- to 27/6, and inferior 15/- to 23/- per lOOlbs. The top price for steers to £l6 10/-, primes £l4 10/-, nitdium steers £6 10/- to £8 15/-, extra prime heifers to £lO 12/6, primes £7 15/- to £9 15/-, others from £5, extra prime cows to £lO 12/6, primes £7 to £x, others £2 10/- to £o 15/-. A small entry of store cattle, with competition dull ; three-year steers made io £5. two-year £2 10/- to £3, two-year heifers £2 17/6 to £3, yearlings 25/- to 30/-. A heavy yarding of fat sheep, of exceptionally good quality. r lhe sale was on a par with last week’s rates, with an increase towards the finish. A small entry of. store sheep, with prices equal to those of last week. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report : —- Fat Sheep.—A big yarding, and a rise from last week of 1/- to 1/6 on medium wethers, up to 2/6 on prime wethers. Ewes were at about last week’s prices, with best ewes 1/- higher. Heaviest ewes to 40;-. A very strong sale for store sheep. Fat Cattle : A good entry of 410 headw, including a consignment of about 65 from the North Island. The market opened firmer, and a good sale with prices from 10/- to 15/- a head better than last week. Best heavy weight steers to £l6 10/-, good prime £l2 to £l4, medium £9 Io £ll 10/-, light sorts down to £6 10/-, prime heifers £7 10/- to £9 10/-, extra prime to £lO 12/6. Prime beef 28/6 to 31/- per 1001 b, and the b.-.-t quality to 33 -.
LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London House, under date of July 20 : —-“London wool sales. Following is the range of prices realised : Merino good to super 26d, low to medium 20id to 24gd ; half-bred 56/58 good to super 22§d to 26d, low to medium 18d to 21-Ad; half-bred 50-56 good to super 18d to 21d, low to medium 16d to halt-bred 48/50 good to super 15d to 162, low to medium 13d to 14d ; fine crossbred 46/48 good to super 13d to 14J>d, low to medium lid to 12J,d ; crossbred 44/46 good to super 12d, low to medium lOd to llld; crossbred 40/44 good to super lid to llJ,d, low to medium 9d to lOd ; coarse crossbred 36/40 super lOd, medium to good 9d to lOd.
