GREY VALLEY BRANCH. A meeting of the Grey Valley braijch .of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held in the Mawheraiti Schoolroom, Mr J. I’. Fitzgerlad, vice-presi-dent in the chair. The Secretary’s action in writing to MrJI. E. Holland, M.l’., re the State Farm at Waimangu, asking him to bring this matter before Parliament, also copies of letter sent to Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., and Mr R. Hudson, M.P., were endorsed, on the motion of Dlr D. Ross, seconded by Mr J. Somerville. On the motion of Dlr A. Doig, seconded by Dlr J. Fitzgerald, the Secretary was instructed to write to tiie District Engineer of the New Zealand Railways drawing his attention to the dangerous state of the crossing at Mr J. Dlera’s, Totara Flat, on tne mam Giey Road, and also asking that cattle stops be put in on the north side to prevent cattle getting on to the culvert. Recently Dlr \V. Clayton had to destroy a bullock that attempted to cross the culvert on the sleepers. Had it not been early in the afternoon, a serious accident might have happened with, the Reefton-Grey train. With the assistance of the railway surface men, some of the sleepers had to be removed before the bullock could be removed. It was moved by Dlr Somerville, seconded by Dlr P. Byrue, that the Secretary write to the Dlinister of Public Works asking for a further grant of £lOOO to complete the Burton Creek Road. Moved by Dlr D. Ross, seconded by Mr J. Fitzgerald, .that the Inangahua County C'uncil be written to, pointing out the dangerous state of a culvert over Perotti’s water race on Byrne Bros. Road, also asking the County Council to repair the first mile of this road.
