DETAILS OF DRAW. GREY MEN’S OPPONENTS. (Special to “Star.’’) CHRISTCHURCH, July 23. The Ashburton Athletic Club has completed its arrangements for the South Island Championship Tournament, and with a large and representative number of boxers competing, the programme cannot fail to be interestT’he South Island team for the New Zealand championships, to be held at Dunedin early in August, will be selected on Thursday evening. These representatives will be pitted against the elite of the North Island. The flyweight division has attracted five good boxers. Kiely (Greymouth) meets Howell (Christchurch), E. Ennis (Timaru) meets Spencer (Invercargill), and the winner of the latter bout meets Leckie (Dunedin). The bantam weight bouts promise to be exciting. Terris (Ashburton) meets Lloyd (Oamaru), Foster (Invercargill) meets Weston (Timaru) and Black (Christchurch) meets Griffiths (Dunedin). The Dunedin boy is one of the cleverest of his weight in the Dominion- . z . The featherweight draw is Cree (Oamaru) v. Fulcher (Dunedin), Hewitt (’Timaru) v. Armstrong (Christchurch), Pascoe (Greymouth) v. Reed (Invercargill). The winner of the Cree v. Fulcher bout meets N. Moulin (Ashburton). The initial bouts in this class should see some rare battling, as the entrants are all strong ami clever boxers. In the lightweight class, Argyle (Ashburton) meets Pascoe (Greymouth), Nelson (Greymouth) meets Livingstone (Invercargill), and the winner of Argyle v. Pascoe meets T. Harris (Dunedin). The welters provide Parker (Timaru) v. L. McDonald (Dunedin), O'Neill (Greymouth) v. Wilkinson (Invercargill), Smitheran (Oamaru) v. Nelson (Greymouth). The winner of the O’Neill, v. Wilkinson bout boxes A. Thompson (Christchurch). MacDonald was the champion lightweight of New Zealand last year, and represented the Dominion at the Australasian Championships at Hobart. Laurie O’Neill is a past New Zealand champion welter weight, and he is one of the cleverest boxers of any weight or class in the Dominion. He will be unable to get down to welter weight, but wiU, however, compete in the middleweight division, in which lie will meet W. A. McPhail (Ashburton) in the final of the middleweight, there being only two entries in this class. J. Gibson (Ashburton) meets Swinard (Oamaru) in the final of the light heavies, for which there are also only two entries.

The heavies are sure to provide some good thrilling encounters. McKinna (Timaru) meets Archie McCormick (Ashburton), and Chaffe (Ashburton) meets J. G. Leckie (Invercargill). Leckie lias won numerous matches in the Southland district, and recently won the Southland heavyweight championship, defeating several men of good class. McKenna holds two decisions over the local champion, McCormick. who however is now in first class fettle.

The finals will be decided on Thursday evening.
