ENGLISH TEAM’S VISIT. (Per Press Associate. CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. A letter has been issued by the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council to all affiliated Associations, setting out the proposed policy of the Committee in regard to financing the visit of an English amtaeur team under the captaincy of Maclaren during the coming season. The letter states“Vour Committee aro now able to report that arrangements have been practically completed with the M.C.C., and that an English amateur team, selected and captained by A. C. Maclaren, will play a series of matches in New Zealand and Australia during next season. The present financial position of the Council does not allow us to consider the possibility of a Dominion team going on tour for some time, but your Committee proposes to establish a reserve fund fr this purpose, and with this object in view, we propose to shoulder the whole of the financial responsibility of the M.C.C. tour. In the event of the tour being the financial success we anticipate, the Associations controlling the matches on behalf of the Council, will be allowed not less than 10 per cent, of the net profit from their match,. the amount to be allocated by a committee at the conclusion of the tour. We ask for the support of all associations to this proposal, as your Committee ft el certain it is the only way—by sending our players on tour .periodically— that we can improve our cricket to the standard which will enable us to compete on equal terms with the great centres of cricket. HANTS’ LOW SCORE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, June 14. Warwickshire dismissed Hampshire for 15 runs. Howell took six wickets for seven runs, and Calthorpe tour wickets for four.
