MARINE DEPARTMENT
SECRETARY SUSPENDED.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 15. It was learnt by a “Times” representative that Mr R. Duncan, Secrey to the Marine Department, has >ecn suspended, pending certain invesgations. Mr W. R. Morris, Public Service "fommissioner, on being approached, id that beyond the statement the cretary for Marine had been suspend--1 and that an. inquiry was being 11 regarding certain irregularities alleged to have taken place in the Department, he had nothing to say ■ the matter. Mr A. D. Park, Inspector in the Public Service Commissioner’s Office, has been placed temporarily in charge ’ the Marine Department. A sensation has been created by the suspension. Mr Duncan was formerly in charge of the Inspection of Machinery Department, and, on the retirement on superannuation of the late Mr George Allport, he was appointed Secretary to the Marine Department in his stead.
