The Napier Park Racing Club’s Winter Meeting opened in showery weather, the course being sodden. The attendance is only fair. Results :— MOTEO ’HACK HURDLES of 175 sovs. ; 1 3-4 miles. —Matatua (9.12) 1, Ruatara (10.3) 2, Royal Gift (10.3) 3. Also started —Battle Song, Earthshine, i'olthogue and Naughty. Won by two lengths. Time 3.35 3-5.
1-ETANE STEEPLECHASE of 200 sovs. ; 2 miles. —Red Cent (9.0) 1, Goldscene (10.10) 2, Maraetotara (11-0) 3. Won by six lengths. Time 4.32 4-5. Stewards’ Stakes of 225 sovs. ; 1 mile —Queen’s Up (9.9) 1, Haurangi (9.13) 2, Kareao (10.1) 3. Also started —Kilrush, Hepta, Lord Muskerry’, Bodyguard, Suspicion, Antler and Kail. Won by a length. Time 1.48 2-5. ASCOT GOLD CUP. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, June 15. The Ascot Gold Cup resulted as follows :— Golden Myth ... ... 1 Flamboyant ... ... 2 Bally heron ... ... 3 Golden Myth was ridden by Elliott, Flamboyant by Lister, and Halit heron by Cai slake. There were ten starters, Golden Myth winning by three-quarters of a length. Four lengths separated the second and third horses.
