HOTEL FIRE

EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. (Per Tress Association.) HAMILTON, April 5. It it now stated that the shoes found in the debris of the Hamilton Hotel fire did not; contain a woman’s foot, as previously reported. Little doubt is entertained however, that the maid Nellie Wood, perished. An inquest was held on a body found - and identified as that of Donald, known as ‘‘Rory” O’Moore. It was identified by the deceased’s brother-in-law. Tho night porter stated that; when the alarm was given, ho saw O’Moore, who had his trousers and boots on, pulling on bis coat and vest Ho did not see. him again. The police said that enquiries made accounted for all tho male persons in the house except O’Moore. 'l’lio Coroner said he was satisfied that the. body was that of O’Moore. A large gang of men arc going through the ruins, inch, by inch fo find any traces of the missing woman. At the inquest on Moore-Jones, a great tribute was paid to deceased s gallantry. 'The Coroner said that no doubt ho lost his life, in endeavouring to save, others.

A verdict of death from burns and shock was returned.
