(From our own Correspondent. lIGKITIKA. This Day. A general meeting of the committee of the Westland A. ami 1\ Association was held yesteiday morning, Mr .Morel being in the chair. Ihe Chairman congratulated the Association on the success of the recent show, both financially and otherwise. Antes of thanks were passed to .Messrs Kettle and Cochrane (Greymoutli), judges who had kindly given their services at the show. Thanks were also accorded other judges at the show. I lie balance-sheet shows assets £199, liabilities £134 17s 2d. It was resolved also that a, letter of thanks be sent to the District Traffic Manager of Railways for the assistance he rendered in granting special railway facilities on show day. Ivssays on the show by school children were handed in from Airs G. A. Perry, who had allotted the first prize to that of Miss Wild mid the second to Miss L. Payn. It was decided that the winning essay he blinded to the local paper for publication. 'l’he matter of adjusting the amusement tax was left with Mr Pilkington and the Secretary. It was pointed out that the entrants in No. 134 who had been awarded first prize, and 140, second prize, had not complied with the rules, ami the saline was admitted bv them. It was resolved that these be disqualified and that the first prize money bo ]iaid to No. 137, Air Nightingale, who had been awarded third prize. With regard to Class 162 it was reported that the winner of the second place in the event—\V. Graham-had entered and ridden a horse, the property of D. Diedrichs. Graham bad further given an order to pay the prize money to D. Diedrichs. Further, that in class 163 it, was pointed out that Graham had broken ride 22. It was resolved that AV. Graham ami his entry in both be disqualified. It was resolved that in Class 162, Al. Sbaffrev take second prize and in Class 163 the first ]>iize goes to B. Jamieson (second Imr.-e), and that the second horse be forfeited. Resolved that the action of Air Jamieson in declining two entries in Class 163 bo approved. Tin- financial statement having been read it was resolved that it be approved, and accounts were also passed for payment. It was moved that the form of trophy for Classes 33, 39, 45. 51 and 57 bo left with Alessrs Dalgleish, Pilkington, and the Secretary. The matter of having Cups engraved was left with the President (Mr Alorel), Alessrs Ilalgliesh and Pilkington, and a case be obtained for Air Dimmicks. I’he disposal of timber on the ground was left with Air Dalgliesh. A gratuity of £5 5s was passed to the caretaker, and a. special vote of thanks was passed to the -Racing Chib for the use of the grounds. A bonus of £2O was granted the, Secretary, and appreciation of his work was generally expressed. Air Fleming voiced the feelings of tho Committee in appreciation of tho great amount of work done by Alessrs Pilkington, Dalgliesh and Scott. The ladies wero also included in the thanks of the Committee, also Air Ale Lean for his splendid effort, and which assisted in the success of the show. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair.
