FARMERS’ UNION
•' — - ROTOAIANU BRANCH. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Rotomanu branch was held on Thursday evening. The President (Air Vallance) occupied the chair. An apology for absence was received from Captain Whitmore. A considerable amount of correspondence was dealt with. A delegate was chosen to represent the branch at the meeting to be held in Reefton on the 25th inst. to consider the question of forming a cooperative butter factory on strictly cooperative lines, it being generally accepted that neither the proprietory nor co-opera-tive factories running on the Coast are giving the satisfaction that suppliers might expect. It was resolved to support the action of the Inangahua Agricultural and Pastoral Association in their efforts to retain the services of Mr Stevenson as manager of the Waimunga State farm. A special meeting was arranged for at an early date to go into the matter of ways and means of curing bacon locally, farmers having a number of pigs for which there is but an indifferent demand.
