NEW ZEALAND BUTTER
DEaREk IN LONDGn.' i.Auatralian and N.Z. Cable Association LONDON, March 23. Butter has shown an extraordinary strength this week, with the supplies etmporarily short. Importers have been able to raise the price on account of the daily shortage till the choicest New Zealand butter is quoted at from 170/- to 180/; Australian 160/- to 165/. Not much actual business is done at these prices, but a considerable speculative business. It. is expected the retailers in Britain will raise their prices for New Zealand butterto l/10d next week. Some entertain a fear that this may check the consumption, but tho public has acquired the butter habit again, and probably the advance will not have any great effect. Cheese remains firm, though coloured cheese is more plentiful and is coming back nearly to the level of white. Prices are: Best New Zealand (white) 92/- to 94/-; coloured 94/-. Australian (white) 88/-; coloured 90/-. , imsewKissj
