MONTHLY MEETING. Commissioners Billett (chairman), drams, "Walker and Barrett attended the monthly meeting of the Cobden Town Board. On the motion of Cr. Barrett, leave of absence was granted to Cr. Sotheran, who is absent from the district. A motion of sympathy with the widow and family of the late Thomas Troy, an old and respected resident of the town, was carried in silence. The Finance Committee reported as follows Rates totaling £534 for the current year, have been paid to date. The credit at the bank is £256/4/2. Wo have perused accounts totalling £263/19/3 and recommend that same be' passed for payment. It is recommended that the Chairman of the Hydro-electric Scheme Conference be requested to convene a meeting of delegates, so as to ascertain what is the present position. It is further recommended that an additional sum of £5 be voted toward the cost of entertaining the- Governor-General in the district last year.” The report was adopted, and it was decided to request the .Greymouth Borough Council to supply information regarding the number of tickets disposed of for the banquet to GovernorGeneral. The Ranger reported that 37 head of cattle and eight horses have been impounded during the period. It was decided to ask the Greymouth Borough Council to share with the Board the poundage fees on stock impounded at Greymouth by the Cobden Ranger. An application for three loads of gravel for approach was granted, and if was resolved that the applicant be requested to comply with the Board’s order promptly. The Health Department directed the Board regarding removal of a boxdr:! in at a local residence. It was formally resolved in accordance with the Rating Amendment Act, 1910, that 10 per cent, penalty be added to all current year’s rates unpaid on April 6. An old resident’s application for the cutting of gorse at the approach to her property was granted. The following matters were referred ( to the Works Committee for report: — Approaches to the properties of Mesdames Skilton and Auton; and outlet for drain in Peel Street.
