(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIUTA, June 2. Waiuta is as busy as a beehive ;a bazaar or something akin to it is promised for the end of the year and many schemes are in hatching. A start was made last week in the getting-off of one of the most successful hard-up socials held here, the proceeds being for a Catholic Church. The music was supplied by Airs Beckman’s Orchestra. Mr Green acted as M.C. Airs Fred Alartin won the prize for the best . d-up dress, and Air Anesy the gent’s prize. Air H. H. Smith sang “Just a Baby Prayer at Twilight,” and Air G. Topp (Reefton), “Comiiiig through the Rye.” and ‘‘When the Great Bed Dawn is Shining.” Airs Alartin. was warmly applauded for a “Cgke Walk.” Totara Flat, Ikamatua, and Reefton were well represented. The usual Wednesday evening euchre tournament at the .Miners’ Hall in aid of the Catholic Church Building Fund attracted a large number of. players.
