OBITUARY

MRS. A. F. FOOT.

On Saturday afternoon (says the Wairoa Chronicle of 28th May) there passed away an old West Coaster, and a resident of Wairoa for the last twelve years in the person of Mrs. A. F. Foot. The deceased was born in Kilworth, County Cork, and came to Melbourne in 1860, in the ship “Prince of the Seas,” afterwards burnt to the water’s edge in Melbourne Harbour. She came to New Zealand in 1862 going to Dunedin and to the West Coast in 1865 or ’66 where she married, and was a resident of Greymouth for 40 years. Twelve years ago she came to Wairoa. whore she lived a quiet life, and passed away on Saturday, as stated, after an illness of nine days’ duration. The deceased was a devout Catholic. and in her younger days rendered her church good service in social work. She leaves to mourn their loss, besides her husband. Mr. A. F. Foot, of this town, one son. Mr. A. F. Foot, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Cromwell, ami five daughters. —Sister Birdsall (Eltham). Airs. Nelson (Hastings), and Misses V. C. Foot. E. A. Foot and F. J. Fo( t. all of W’airon. A requiem Mass was said at St. Peter’s Church, and thereafter the remains were interred in the Wairoa cemetery in« the presence of a. number of the settlers the Bev. Father La Croix. formerly of Greymouth, officiating. -. ,
