RUGBY FOOTBALL NOTES. To-morrow the senior match between Uniteds and Stars will be the main attraction. The United Club, despite some losses in the ranks of last year s players is again able to put three teams into the field. A victory for th s Club, which has maintained a bold front, under adverse circumstances, would be well received by followers of rugby in Greymouth. Rumour has it that the senior team will hold its end up, and that the Stars will have a big tussle in to-morrow’s game. The advent of the Greymouth D.H.S. into the fourth grade competition is a pleasing innovation. It is always a good principle to make use of tho school spirit in all branches of athletics, and the admission of the new fourth grade"team from tho Greymouth School will tend to improve the boys football, and make for better competi-

tion. . . . Ngahere has formed a junior club and when fitted out with their new set of jerseys (all blacks), will enter the W.C.R.U. Junior Cup competition. W e Wish the new club every success, as generally speaking, country clubs labour under serious . disadvantages m competition against their town cpj.on ents who benefit by better training facilities, and better coaching. In the match with the South African team set down to be played at Grey-

mouth, the team to represent the Coast 'will be selected from the West Coast and Buller Unions. ■Coast football followers will be interested to know that our erstwhile West Coast rep. Markham, figured in the opening of the football season in Wellington last Saturday. He played five-eighth for the newly-formed Marist Old Boys team, which put up a goou"flght against Athletic, though suffering defeat. Markham was responsible for opening up several rushes during the game. 1 NANG AHU A RUGBY. SUB-UNION MEETING. DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND.
