REEFTON NOTES
(Own Correspondent.) The total rainfall for the month of February, taken at the Reefton .School of Alines, was 2.37 inches. Rain fell on five
days, the maximum fall on one day being 0.785 in. on 6th February. In February, 1920,, 4.385 in. of rain fell on nine wet days. The heaviest fall recorded in the month of February was in 1915, when 10.250 inches fell. Several‘cars fully loaded journeyed to Cionadun last night, the occasion being the footballers’ presentation to the Rev. Father Kane. Nurse Alears, newly appointed to the Reefton Hospital, took up her duties today. Air R. Wilson and members of his party who 'are interested in mining ventures in this district, arrived from Christchurch last night, and will visit the Welcome mine to-morrow. Several local “sports” left to-day to be present at the Nelson races. The locally-owned trotter “Tidewater” is a solid selection for his first start at the Nelson trotting meeting, consequent on a good try-out on Thursday last. Rain commenced to fall last night, and will be extremely welcome throughout the district, and particularly in the town of Reefton, where the water supply is very low, and the utmost care taken to conserve the supply.
