NEARLY DOUBLED

EXPORTS FROM GREYMOUTH

ENCOURAGING FIG URES. LARGE AAIOUNT FOR U.S.A. A most interesting return of the number tonnage and crews of vessels entered inwards and cleared outwards at Greyinonth during the quarter ended June 30th has just been issued in the New Zealand Gazette. Eleven vessels bound for British ossessions, with crews amounting to 259 were cleared from the port. The value of exports from the Grey district to Australia amounted to £53,803 and to the value of £931 from Hokitika. The goods exported to the United Kingdom from Grey mouth were valued at £7,497 and from Hokitika at £4133. The Grey district sent goods to the value of no less than £27,395 to the United Stales of America, the export from Hokitika being valued at £7,158. ■ The enormous increase in Pie vr.eie of the total exports from Greyinonth may be gauged from the fact that for the past quarter the total exports are valued at £88,695, whereas the ex-

ports for the corresponding quarter in 1919 only amomPed to £47.245. For both periods at Hokitika, the exports were £.12.222. and for the corresponding period the previous year £11.439 whilst at Westport, goods to the value of £17.178 were exported as against £13.530 for the corresponding quarter in 1919.
