The recent War, from which Greater Britain so triumphantly emerged, has proven that- the people of the Dominion are strong iu their loyalty as supporters of the British Empire, of which we are proud to be part. Upon your return to the Mother Country we respectfully wish yon, to convey to His Majesty the King, the best wishes of his subjects living on the Golden West Coast of New Zealand. The illuminated address which is now being framed is rich in colouring. The address proper is on a. light golden coloured background, whilst the title is on a dark sepia background, the initial letters of the Prince of W ales being illuminated in a flowery scroll. The address is bordered on the left side by three insets depicting the kiwi, a. beautiful portion of Lake Kauieri and the head of a Maori belle. On the right aic two shields on which is shown the Gi eymouth coat of arms “Labour et Honore” and the Southern Cross respectively. The scroll surrounding the address is rich in colouring blend ing with a very dark background. Ihe outstanding feature i : a sized view of Milford ,Sound and the whole address is bordered by the ,v oid hand on which is worked a fine scroll m Autumn tints. The whole address reflects great credit on the designed, Mr. R. G. Caigou of the Public Works Department who kindly undertook the work. ICE TURNED SOLDIERS. opening of club. WIRE TO PREMIER. . It was confidently anticipated in view of the Prince’s express wish that lie should he brought into contact with the returned soldiers that His Royal Highness would open the Greymouth Retni nod Soldiers’ Club, but unforinnately the authorities do not consider that the time which the rinoe will have in Greymouth Mill be. sufficient for tbe ceremony performed by him. The following telegrams have been sent by the Grey. Returned Loldiers Association to both Mr Massey and- Sir Francis Bell. the Grey Returned Soldiers Association deeply resents the actum of the authorities in omitting to arrange for H.R.H. the Prince oi: Wales to open the Greymouth R.S.A. club rooms, • while tbev have a.dded half-an-hour to time at his disposal at Hokitika, which had previously been allotted to Greymouth. In view of the expressed desire of the Prince and the fact that we have waited three months for this honour, fe urge that the matter be re-considered.” Mr ,T. R Y. Seddon, M.P., wired as follows : “Received the following last night: ‘His Worship theAtayor of Greymouth lias been advised that His Royal Highness will be pleased to accept the souvenir which it is proposed to present him with on the occasion of his visit there. As already a full programme has been arranged for, the limited, time the Prince will be in Greymouth it is very much regretted that the request that His Royal Highness should open the. Soldiers’ Club cannot he cnmnliecl with.’ ” Mr Seddon added: “I have recnested strongly for reconsideration.”
