LAST NIGHT’S METING./ The adjourned meeting, of. the Greymouth Harbour Board was lield at the Board’s office last evening at 7.30 o’clock. Present: Messrs J. Steer (chair), W. Leitch, P. J. McLean and D. Tennent, Before confirming the minutes of the previous meeting the chairman mentioned the declaration of peace and the festivities arranged in connection therewith, and he thereupon moved that the ordinary business he suspended. APPRECIATIVE RESOLUTION Mr D. Tennent, in referring to the glorious achievement of the Allied Forces over the German foe, considered the Board should place a motion of appreciation on its hooks. He moved that the Government he congratulated on the successful termination of the war, and the Board expresses the hope that the victories gained on the battlefield will he safely guarded . on the settlement of peace negotiations, and especially in regard to the retention of the Pacific Islands. Mr McLean seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. COAL PROSPECTING. Mr Leitch, having reported to the Chairman on the question of an application for a subsidy to prosecute the prospecting for coal on Mr Boustridge’s section at Stillwater—an endowment reserve held by the occupier under lease from, the Board Mr Steer moved that the Minister he ashed to pay a subsidy of £1 for £l, up to £25, for prospecting for coal on the reserve.—Seconded by Mr McLean and carried. EMPLOYEES’ WAGES. The Board, on the motion of Mr Tennent, agreed to pay its employees full wages (three days) for time off in connection with peace celebrations. This is in respect to last Fridav’s rejoicing in addition to yesterday’s and to-day’s Holidays. The meting then adjourned to enable members to take part in the evening’s festivities.
