Mrs Beck, sister of Mrs Bnuldon, of Hokitika., and formerly of Kanieri, but now matron at the Wellington Police Station, has been appointed chief matron for New Zealand. She was the first matron ever appointed by the police, and has acted m that capacity for the post twenty-three years at the Wellington Police Station, where she has given every possible satisfaction.
