BLACKBALL NOTES.

A football match took place in Blackball at Saturday last when the State Mine third grade’ team played the Blackball third grade team. The weather being bad made it a, for-
viard game, the backn being unable to handle the ball. The game was hard fought and ended in a. draw, neither side being able to cross the line. Mr. J. Grindle had charge of the whistle, and gave every satisfaction to both teams.
, BLACKBALL DOMAIN.
The Blackball Domain is in a. very bad state. The water is all over the ground on account of the drains being blocked, up. If they wero cleaned it would make a, great improvement,' and a load or two of gravel at the gates would keep the people from being- blocked \y the mud.
ROLL OF HONOUR
Mrs. Turk of Blackball ha® received word that her son Private C Turk, has been killed in France. Private Turk enlisted in Australia, and went away in the first Australian forces. He was in tbe lauding at Gallipoli and lias had four birthdays on* the battlefield. PERSONAL. Mrs. Buchanan (sister of Lieutenant S. Frickleton, Y-C), went overland on Thursday last to Christchurch, en route for Wellington, where she intends spending a holidav. GRAND CONCERT. A, grand concert and dance was held in Blackball on Friday, 19th, in aid of the Catholic Church. The theatre was packed and the Blackball Silver Band played in front of the theatre before the concert began. The items were as follows: Overture, Miss Watson; song, Mr. A. King, '"Rocked in the Cradle of the Deep": song. "Until," Mr. Fitzgerald ; song, "Mv father was born in Killarncy," Miss R. Watson; dance, "Irish Jig," Misses Moynahan; song, "Kilhtrnoy," Miss MoGrath; recitation, "Devil may care," Mr. Fitzgerald; clog dance, Miss T. Ashton; song, "When you come home," Mr. Prescott (champion tenor singer); song, "Thorn.," Mr. Berti ; song, 'Tom-Pom," Mr. Aldridge ; song, ''The Land of Grama.cb.ree," Mr. Molloy: song, "Mountains of Mourne," Mr. T. Clark; song, "Coming Home," Mr. Gilfney; song, "When the sands of the desert grow cold," Mi'. Aldridge; dance, ''Russian Folk Dance," Misses Moynahan ; song, "A little bit of heaven," Miss" D. OTlallarhan; song. "Bianca,' Mr. Berti; dance, "Sailer's Hornpipe," Miss T. Ashton; song, -Annie Laurie," Miss McGrath; action song (12 children), "In cherry blosom time in Japan"; song, "Take a pair of sparkling eves," Mr. Prescott; skirts dance, Miss R. Watsion ; recitation. "Shamus O'Brien," Mr. Fitzgerald. The majority of the performers Avere encored. A very enjoyable dance followed. The music was supplied by Miss Watson's orchestra, and 'Mr. Davies acted as M.O.
